Interim report summary: Current State Assessment of Systems Architecture

This is one of a series of interim reports produced as part of the Information Sharing Project in collaboration with The Promise Scotland. This project has sought to understand the legal, cultural, and technical barriers to data and information sharing as it relates to care experienced children, young people, and their families across public sector agencies and organisations in Scotland.

This summary was written by Mydex CIC as a condensed version of their white paper assessing the current state of public service integration across statutory, public, third, and independent sector organisations. The paper focuses on how personal data and service event data are shared both within organisations and across organisational boundaries where multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder teams are responsible for delivering services to people with complex and varied needs.

The paper is intended as a practical resource for organisations seeking to revisit their service integration strategies and move toward more effective, person-centred data sharing approaches in line with the aims of the Information Sharing Project. For more information, please contact David Alexander, Chief Executive at Mydex Data Services Community Interest Company: david@mydex.org.

The findings presented here should be read alongside insights from the other work packages, as together they contribute to a shared and evolving understanding of how data and information sharing can better support care experienced children and young people in Scotland. The full set of final project outputs is due to be published in spring 2026.
