Workshop Report: Exploring Approaches to Establish a Social Licence for Uses of Young Scot Data
As part of a collaborative effort in partnership with Young Scot and Futures and Design at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, this report details a workshop exploring innovative methods to establish a social licence for data use at Young Scot.
Using a novel Futures methodology, the workshop actively engaged young people through gamified scenarios, ensuring their voices are heard in ongoing discussions around their data and social licence. By viewing social licence as a journey, the workshop provided insights into continuous engagement and progress in data practices.
The insights, though gathered from a small group, reveal significant opportunities to enhance data governance, privacy, and trust. Recommendations focus on data governance, privacy, and trust, proposing steps to engage a more diverse youth demographic across Scotland in the conversation on data use.
